WALPOLE, MA -- After earning their first victory of the season, the East Coast Wizards head into the September Showcase with a record of 1-3-0 in their first four games. The first Eastern Hockey League (EHL) showcase of the year will bring all 19 teams together at Rodman Arena. Over the next two days, the Wizards will face-off with the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers and the Connecticut Chiefs, with hopes of bringing their record back up to a .500 winning percentage.
"Of course that is the ultimate goal, but we have to just take things one shift at a time," said Wizards head coach and general manager Freddy Meyer. "The shutout on Thursday was definitely a good confidence boost heading into the showcase. The boys are feeling good, and they're ready to go."
Both matchups on the schedule this weekend are the first meetings between the Wizards and their opponents this season. As Meyer mentioned, a pair of victories is the ultimate goal for his team, and they will have a good shot if they play the way they did on Thursday.
If you can't make it to Walpole for showcase, you can catch the action live on HockeyTV. Also, be sure to follow the Wizards on Twitter, for updates throughout the event.
Jack Johansen ('00) has been a bright spot for the Wizards on the blue line so far this year, with a pair of goals and a pair of assists in the first four games.
