Another longtime Wizard will continue their career at the college level.
East Coast goaltender Pat Aalto announced Thursday that he has committed to the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth to play hockey for the Corsairs.
“I would like to thank my family, teammates, friends, and coaches who have helped me achieve my lifelong goal of playing college hockey,” Aalto said. “I am really proud and excited to be a part of the UMass-Dartmouth community and hockey program.
Aalto joined the Wizards ahead of the 2020-21 Eastern Hockey League season and has been a model of consistency for the team. He posted a 3.77 goals-against average with a .900 save percentage last year and has followed that up with a 3.63 GAA and .899 SV% in 2021-22. He also led the team in goaltender wins this regular season with nine.
“We could not be more excited for Pat. He put so much time in both on and off the ice, we’re really excited that it has paid off,” Wizards head coach Kory Falite said. “He has matured so much through his time with the Wizards. UMD is getting a great kid and a great goalie.”
