BEDFORD, MA -- The Wizards will get back to work with a couple key divisional matchups this week against the Walpole Express and the Boston Jr. Rangers. The Wizards currently sit in 3rd place in the Boston Division with a record of 16-11-0. They also currently trail the 2nd place Express by 7 points, and the 1st place Rangers by 12 points.
"This is a big week for our group," said Wizards head coach and general manager Freddy Meyer. "We obviously start with a pair of huge matchups within our division, and then head into the holiday break after two games at the showcase. We've got four games in seven days, and we all would love to head into the break with some momentum."
On Tuesday, the squad will head down to Walpole to battle with the Express at 12:00pm. This is the fourth matchup of the season between the two teams, with the Wizards holding a 2-1-0 record against their division rival so far this year. The Wizards also won the most recent matchup at Rodman Arena by the score of 4-3, thanks to Devin Panzeca’s game-tying and game-winning goals. The Express are coming into the game having won six out of their last seven contests, and fresh off a 5-1 win against the Total Athletic Seahawks on Sunday.
On Wednesday, the Wizards will return home to host the Boston Jr. Rangers at 12:00pm. The game will mark the fourth matchup between the two division rivals this year, with the Wizards winning two out of the first three contests. Korbinian Lutz made 34 saves in route to a 5-3 win against the Rangers in the previous meeting between the two teams. However, the Rangers currently find themselves on a five-game winning streak going into Wednesday’s tilt.
