BEDFORD, MA -- Through the first 31 games, the Wizards currently sit in 3rd place in the Boston Division with a record of 18-13-0 and are 9 points behind the 2nd place Walpole Express. The squad holds an impressive 9-4-0 record against divisional opponents so far this season, with 5 division matchups still remaining on the schedule. With the two wins at the December showcase this past weekend, the team also holds a 4-2-0 record in #EHLShowcaseSeries play. The Wizards have scored 92 total goals so far this year, which equals out to a 2.97 goals per game average. On the flip side, the squad has only allowed 86 goals this season as Korbinian Lutz, Alec Marshall, and Jordan White have all combined to help the Wizards to a 2.77 goals against per game average. The Wizards are good for 11.8% on the power-play this season and are 7th in the EHL in penalty kill percentage at 83.7%.
Despite only playing 24 games for the Wizards this season, Devin Panzeca, leads the team in scoring with 19 goals and 23 assists (42 points). Matt Lemanski, who just recently committed to SUNY Fredonia, is putting together a quality season himself with 24 points for the year. Dylan Schuett has also been a force up front for the Wizards with 11 goals and 12 assists, along with a team-leading 5 game-winning goals. On the blue line Matt Fuller leads all defensemen on the team with 17 points. Last, but not least, Lutz leads the Wizards with 11 wins on the season, while maintaining a solid 2.69 GAA. The German native has also collected 4 shutouts this year, which puts him 2nd in the EHL in that category.
"We're in a good spot right now," said Wizards head coach and general manager Freddy Meyer. "Last year at this time we still had some work to do in order to secure a spot in the playoffs, but this year we are in a much different spot. Kory [Falite] and I are looking forward to seeing how the team develops down the final stretch and into the postseason."
