EHL Forward Set to Join Penmen this Fall

BEDFORD, MA -- The East Coast Wizards are pleased to announce that Andy Somerville has committed to the Southern New Hampshire University for the Fall of 2018. In his first season in the EHL, the '97 forward from Medford, MA has racked up 17 points in 31 games to date.

"We are very proud of Andy for his commitment to SNHU," said Wizards head coach and general manager Freddy Meyer. "It's been a tough year for Andy, battling back from an injury, but he's been great for us every since he returned. He's a skilled forward that is still developing, and he will help the Penmen from the first day he steps on campus."

After playing five games in the month of September, Somerville suffered an injury that kept him out until late November. The time away from the rink was frustrating, but Somerville knows he learned a lot from the situation. The forward took some time to reflect on the year, and give his thanks for all the help.

"Junior hockey has been a great learning experience for me in regards to what to expect in order to play at the collegiate level," said Somerville. "It has enabled me to improve in many areas, such as independent preparation, on and off-ice conditioning, importance of systematic play and always coming ready to compete to the best of my ability. I would like to thank all the coaches that I have played for in the past as each have taught me a particular skill set that has allowed me to reach my full potential and achieve my goal of playing college hockey. I'm very excited to become a student athlete at Southern New Hampshire University."
