BEDFORD, MA -- The East Coast Wizards hit the ice tonight at 7:10pm, for cross-conference matchup with the New York Applecore. This is the final meeting during the regular season between these 2 teams, as the Wizards won the 1st matchup by the score of 3-1 at the Walpole Showcase. Entering tonight's game, the Wizards have won 3 straight contests, which was also the case when they took on the Applecore for the 1st time this season. For the year, the Wizards are 7-3-1 and they currently own a 1-point lead over the Seahawks, Express, and RoughRiders, for the top spot in their division. On the flip side, the Applecore would be the 6th and final playoff team in the Mid-Atlantic Conference, if the playoffs started today. However, New York is struggling, having lost 5 straight games coming into this one.
"It doesn't matter that we come in on a winning streak, while they are on a losing streak," said Wizards head coach and general manager Freddy Meyer. "We need to bring it for 60 minutes tonight, especially knowing that next week we head to Philadelphia for a big 3-game trip."
As Meyer mentioned, the Wizards are set to take on the Little Flyers on Thursday, and then the Revolution on Friday and the Saturday. He doesn't want his team to think about that just yet, but rather focus on getting the 2 points tonight, and then carry that momentum on the road.
If you can't make it Bedford for the game, you can catch the action live on HockeyTV. Also, be sure to follow the Wizards on Twitter, for updates throughout tonight's matchup.
Trent Pitser ('99) is hot as of late, tallying at least a point in 5 of his last 6 games.
