BEDFORD, MA -- The East Coast Wizards hit the ice for a trio of games this past week, looking to build off of their win over the Walpole Express on November 30th. After dropping their matchup with the Vermont Lumberjacks this past Wednesday, the Wizards beat a pair of 1st place teams in the Seahawks Hockey Club (Thursday) and New Hampshire Avalanche (Friday).
"The week definitely didn't start off the way we had hoped, but the boys battled back with a couple great games against the Seahawks and the Avalanche," said Wizards head coach and general manager Freddy Meyer. "While we earned 4 key points and added a couple nice wins to our resume, we still haven't accomplished any of our goals so far this season. We need to build off of these, and keep our momentum rolling right up until the holiday break.
With the pair of victories, the Wizards improved their record up to 14-8-1 for the season, and their 29 points places them in 4th place overall in the New England Conference standings.
Looking ahead, the Wizards have 3 games left before the team takes off for the holiday break at the end of the month. The first matchup for the Wizards comes on Thursday, as the EHL team gets a chance to represent the league in an exhibition contest against the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL). Thursday's game is the Wizards only contest at the December Showcase, as the team will then take on the Express and the Seahawks next week to wrap-up the 1st half of the year.
"This will be a good test for our group," added Meyer. "Our success in these 3 games will have a large impact towards the playoff race, and of course, how we feel heading into the holiday break.
