BEDFORD, MA -- Ever since the turn of the calendar year, the East Coast Wizards are riding high. In four games so far this month, the Wizards are a perfect 4-0-0, and they'll take that winning streak with them into this weekend's showcase in Walpole, MA.
"It's definitely very clear that the holiday break came at the perfect time for our guys," said Wizards head coach and general manager Freddy Meyer. "They've responded with four straight wins, and now we have to keep building from here. We were fortunate to start off at home for every game so far in 2019, but that changes really fast for use over the next few weeks."
As Meyer mentioned, the Wizards have played every game of 2019 at home. When it comes to playing at home, there aren't many teams better than the Wizards, who own a mark of 11-1-0 in games that take place at The Edge Sports Center. However, following a big home stretch is usually a string of games on the road, and the Wizards will play eight of their next ten contests in away venues across the EHL.
The first pair of games comes this weekend, as the Wizards get set to face-off with the North Carolina Golden Bears and Team Maryland at the final showcase of the season.
The matchup with the Golden Bears is scheduled for tomorrow at 11:30am, and the Wizards will be going for the season sweep, after knocking off North Carolina by the score of 5-1 back in November.
Flip over to Monday, and the Wizards have the same scenario in front of them, having beat Team Maryland once already this year. Last time these two teams met up, the final score pointed 6-0 in favor of the Wizards.
"Both teams have improved since we saw them last," added Meyer. "It doesn't matter where they may sit in their respective standings, we need to show up ready to play."
If you can't make it Walpole for the showcase, you can catch the action live on HockeyTV. Also, be sure to follow the Wizards on Twitter, for updates throughout the weekend.
