NEWINGTON, CT -- After winning two of their three matchups in Philadelphia this past week, the East Coast Wizards hit the road again, for a meeting with the Connecticut Chiefs. Today's game is the fourth and final matchup of the 2018-19 season, with the Wizards having won each of the first three contests by scores of 5-4, 4-3 (OT), and 6-2. Entering today, the Wizards are in control of 1st place in their division, with a slight lead over both the Seahawks Hockey Club and the Connecticut RoughRiders.
"It's important for our guys to stay focused today and not look ahead," said Wizards head coach and general manager Freddy Meyer. "The second you do that in this league, it comes back to bite you. We know what lies ahead, but first and foremost is today's matchup with the Chiefs."
As Meyer mentioned, it's important for the team to not look ahead, knowing that tomorrow they host the Seahawks in a huge showdown. Following this week, the Wizards still have one more game with the Chiefs, along with a final matchup against the RoughRiders, both of which will be very key towards clinching a First Round bye. However, right now they are going with the one step at a time mentality, starting today against the Chiefs.
