DiNapoli Commits to Division II Assumption University

By Colin Casey 01/20/2022, 3:15pm EST

The commits just keep rolling in for the Wizards.

East Coast forward Jake DiNapoli announced Wednesday that he has committed to play hockey at Assumption University, a Division II school located in Worcester, Massachusetts. DiNapoli joins C.J. Boyd (Alvernia) and Joe Idelson (Suffolk) as the third player to announce plans at the college level.

“I am beyond excited to announce my commitment to Assumption University,” DiNapoli said. “I would like to thank my family, coaches, teammates, and teachers for making me the student athlete I am today. Go Hounds!”

DiNapoli has been a catalyst offensively for East Coast this season, tallying nine goals and six assists over 24 games. He also leads the team in power play goals with three.

“We are really excited for Jake. He has worked extremely hard since arriving with the Wizards early this summer,” Wizards head coach Kory Falite said. “Assumption is gaining a terrific forward and an even better kid.”

The Assumption Greyhounds belong to the Northeast-10 Conference and are one of just seven Division II programs in NCAA men’s ice hockey. The program won the 2019-20 Regular Season Conference Championship and look to defend that title this year after the 2020-21 season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Defenseman Idelson Commits to Suffolk

Another Wizard has found their college home.

East Coast’s Joe Idelson announced on Saturday that he has committed to Suffolk University to play Division III college hockey. The Wizards defenseman has one goal and three assists this season, his second with East Coast.

“Thank you to my teammates, family, and coaches who have been so supportive throughout my hockey career,” Idelson said Saturday.

Idelson will continue his hockey career in the Bay State, where he’s played throughout his life. He attended Catholic Memorial High School in West Roxbury, Massachusetts, just 20 minutes south of Suffolk.

"We could not be happier for Joe after he worked extremely hard to get back from a season-ending injury last season," Wizards head coach Kory Falite said. "He's an unbelievable kid to have both on and off the ice and we're glad to see his hard work pay off."

Boyd Commits to Alvernia University

By Colin Casey 12/27/2021, 3:00pm EST

The East Coast Wizards have their first college hockey commit of the 2021-22 season.

Defenseman C.J. Boyd announced Thursday that he has committed to play for Alvernia University in Reading, Pennsylvania. The school announced in August of 2020 that they will add men’s hockey to their athletics programs and Boyd is expected to be a part of their inaugural season.

“Thank you to my family, coaches, and teammates for being behind me every step of the journey,” Boyd said of his commitment.

The 19-year-old blue-liner from Downington, Penn. has spent the last two seasons with East Coast, tallying two goals and 12 assists over 63 games. He was selected to play in the 2021 Eastern Hockey League All-Star Classic last month.

“CJ’s been the backbone of our defensive corps for two years now,” Wizards head coach Kory Falite said of Boyd. “He’s one of the hardest workers in the league."

Forward Ryan Webb is part of the returnees ahead of the East Coast Wizards' season opener against the Connecticut Chiefs.
